Hereke is on the north shore of Izmit bay southeast of Istanbul in Northwest Turkey. The very fine Hereke silk rugs are extremely labor intensive and the prices tend to reflect that. Hereke copies are made in China particularly in Zhenping in Henan province. The market place sees the Chinese copies as no more than copies and the real Hereke is much more valued in the marketplace. Crystal's Charms: a handmade charm bracelet and custom jewelry designer
Crystal's Charms: a handmade charm bracelet and custom jewelry designer: "'Celebrate the small things in life' is the motto of Crystal's Charms, a witty and enchanting collection of jewelry unlike any you've seen before.
Designer Crystal Lal hopes her jewelry makes people think beyond surface beauty and go deeper. A former editor and journalist, turned stay-home mom, turned jewelry designer, Crystal's jewelry goes beyond pure aesthetics. Each piece is designed and crafted by hand to remind us to pay attention to the things in life that are close to our hearts.
'My jewelry is not mass produced. I design for those who understand and appreciate detail, originality and human touch. I take pride in an approach and design that is personal and genuine,' said Crystal. "

Jewish Rugs and Textiles of Palestine
Rugs and Textiles of Palestine: "Rugs and Textiles of Palestine
So, why Palestine? Most of the rugs I expect to put here are from what was palestine when they were made. If I called them Jewish rugs and textiles that would point to an area greater than I expet to encompass on this page.
A Marvadia 'Star of David' Carpet Jerusalem, Circa 1930
A Marvadia 'Deer' Carpet Jerusalem, Circa 1930
A Marvadia 'Wolf' Carpet Jerusalem, Circa 1930 lot 209
For a Jewish rug from Turkey see Hereke Silk Jewish Menora Rug"

ONLINE SHOPPER
Elusive Quarry, Very Like a Whale
By MICHELLE SLATALLA
SUPPOSE there was a time when even Captain Ahab managed to temporarily suppress his urge to pursue Moby-Dick. For a while I gave up trying to buy an antique Oriental rug.
But aside from the peg leg, Ahab and I have much in common. His obsession eventually led him back to sea on an ill-fated expedition. Mine sent me shopping online.
In the months since I last wrote about my search, my goal has remained clear: to buy a better rug than I could otherwise afford by paying a below-market price.
While I was willing to pay a substantial amount for a quality rug, I turned my back on the methods of shopping that had pointed me toward the realm of retail prices. I quit borrowing rugs from stores to test in my living room. And no more real-life auctions where I became paralyzed by indecision as other bidders stared.
Instead I spent the spring reading rug collectors' posts at message boards like spongobongo.com,"

La Miniature En Orient Plate 42: The Sleep of Rustam
La Miniature En Orient Plate 42: The Sleep of Rustam: "Washington DC Area - BWI - Dulles - National - Airport Limousine Service
The Sleep of Rustam
Plate 42. Persia, Mid 15th century, Formerly in the Martin Collection, Stockholm Sweden.
La Miniature En Orient by Ernst Kuhnel 1925
Translator's Note: While Kuhnel did not attribute this painting to an artist it is now widely viewed as the work of Sultan Muhammad. Stuart Cary Welch suggested that this miniature was originally intended for the book we know as the Shah-Nama of Shah Tahmasp.1. Sheila Canby takes that one step further by suggesting that Tahmasp steeped in the artistic tradition of Herat rejected this piece on stylistic grounds. 2. One point that both Welch and Canby is the date, circa 1515 - 1522.
This represents the pinnacle of the Tabriz Miniature tradition prior to the arrival of Tahmasp and Bihzad from Herat. Compared to Bihzad Sultan Mohammed could be rather clumsy and crude but the colors and the vitality make this a treasure but one that did not fit the Herat esthetic.
Detail - The sleep of Rustam
Here we see Rustan one of the great heroes of epic poetry. The earliest images of Rustan are Sacian from Central Asia. This hero was grafted onto Persian legends in the Shahnama (Book of Kings) by a poet named Firdausi. 3.
